Spray drying is a widely used processing technique in many manufacturing sectors, including the ceramics sector, for transforming liquid suspensions into free-flowing powders. The course covers the fundamental principles of spray drying and the key factors to consider when selecting equipment for specific applications.
You will learn how to properly prepare a ceramic suspension for spray drying, including the selection of binders and plasticisers, to ensure the production of high-quality granulate. The course also covers the operation of spray dryers, including the steps involved in achieving consistent, uniform granulate for further processing, such as pressing.
By the end of the course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of the spray drying process, how to control and characterise the properties of the granulate produced, and the benefits of spray drying compared to alternative granulation methods.
