Understanding the effect of fluid control in ceramics is vital in understanding the interactions between materials, water and chemicals used in the body and glaze preparation processes. By understanding rheology and these relationships, manufacturers and suppliers of ceramic materials and products can change the characteristics of their ceramic bodies and glazes to optimise performance and production yields.
This intermediate level course also explains how casting slip and cast properties can be controlled with the use of simple viscometers and slip density measurement to produce high quality and consistent large complex shaped items.
