Get a practical insight into project planning and go from project initiation to building a project schedule. The workshop will focus on planning as the foundation for successful project management and participants will take away an accessible, flexible and scalable framework for planning projects.
This course has been designed to accommodate various learning styles and to allow participants to learn from group discussions and individual reflection on the current practice. The participants will be encouraged to implement learnt skills in their day-to-day work practice.
The aim is to introduce the principles of project planning from initiation through to building a project schedule and provide an opportunity to apply them to a group project.
The course will cover key elements of a project, including: overview, scope, unknowns, interactions, breakdown, control and schedule.
- Recognise when a piece of work would benefit from a structured, planned approach.
- Work through the essential elements of a project plan and apply them to a simple fictional project.
- Consider how they might apply the project planning essentials to their own work based projects.

This workshop is aimed at technicians involved in running small to medium sized projects in the workplace who have had little or no project management training.
There are no pre-requisites to this course meaning the course will still benefit your life both at work and outside of work, regardless of your experiences and background.
A 6 hour online or face-to-face session led by a HEaTED instructor.
