Corrosion Detection and Monitoring - Conventional Ultrasonic Inspection (UT)
Provider TWI
Course description
This course will cover the properties of materials, theory of corrosion, types of corrosion, and preventative measures (likely locations, inspection and monitoring techniques, variables affecting corrosion). You will also learn about corrosion monitoring, structural damage mechanisms, degradation of materials in-service conditions, and types of failure.
In addition, the course will look at basic electrical theory associated with corrosion, inspection techniques and the application of conventional ultrasonic methods.
- Gain corrosion specific certification in ultrasonic inspection using conventional methods.
- Better understand the principles of corrosion and material degradation.
- Be able to recognise the need for corrosion investigation.
- Be able to apply practical methods for testing and monitoring of corrosion.
- Appreciate the difficulties associated with corrosion inspection and control.
- Interpret the requirements of appropriate standards.
- Pass the CSWIP corrosion awareness examination.
- Knowledge of materials and corrosion.
- Knowledge of corrosion monitoring, failure types and degradation of materials.
- Knowledge of electrical theory associated with corrosion.
This course will be of benefit to those working in ceramics as the course will provide an understanding of NDT methods used in wider material science applications and the techniques used. If you are working in ceramics and you have an interest in learning more about non-destructive testing, in particular ultrasonic inspection, then this course is for you.
The Corrosion Awareness - Conventional Ultrasonic Inspection course for you if you are a:
- Level 2 Ultrasonic Inspector (previous knowledge of plant inspection would be an advantage, but not essential).
- Candidate wishing to have greater understanding of corrosion and its detrimental effect on materials.
- Candidate who interfaces with NDT inspectors and want to gain a greater understanding of corrosion detection with ultrasonic inspection, its capability and limitations.
