Course description

The course covers: Computerised Radiography (CR), Digital Radiography (DR) and Computerised Tomography (CT)

Radiographic Testing Operators qualified to at least Level 1, in accordance with ISO 9712, engaged in radiographic testing/interpretation who need to update their knowledge to incorporate digital radiography.

Theory:

  • Digital radiography basic principles
  • Image quality assessment
  • Assessment of the CR phantom
  • Classification of CR system to current DR standards
  • Radiographic techniques and standards
  • Radiographic interpretation of digital images
  • Digital image manipulation tools including their use
  • Measurement tools and their use
  • Exposure considerations using CR imaging plates

Practical demonstrations:

  • Digital radiography
  • Computerised radiography
  • Computed tomography
  • Understand the principles of digital radiography, including CR, DR, and CT technologies.
  • Differentiate between CR and DR systems and classify CR systems according to current DR standards.
  • Evaluate image quality using established criteria and perform assessments with CR phantoms.
  • Apply correct radiographic techniques for image acquisition in digital radiography.
  • Interpret digital radiographic images for flaw detection and evaluation.
  • Digital imaging proficiency.
  • Image quality assessment.
  • Radiographic interpretation.
  • Knowledge of CT, DR and CT.

If you are working in ceramics or materials and you have an interest in learning more about radiography techniques, then this course is of benefit to you. There is no formal qualification required although a good understanding of Radiographic principles is desirable. This course may also be of benefit to personnel engaged in the supervision, control and interpretation of radiographic images who wish to expand their knowledge to incorporate digital radiography.
